Long History, Reputable Reputation
Founding partners Harry Muller and Erv Wildeman established Van Burn Collision Repairs in 1960 to produce quality repairs and provide excellent customer service to vehicle owners.
The name originated due to simple demographics; the shop was situated on the Vancouver and Burnaby border on Kingsway at Smith Avenue.
At the time, the company began to capitalize on its reputation for quality assurance and exceptional customer service. The result was impressive growth, prompting a move in 1964 to its present location, 4459 Dawson Street in Burnaby.
New Ownership, Enduring Mission
Harry and Erv retired in 1990 and current business partners Gord Grant and Dale Hinkelman purchased the 7,500-square-foot shop in September that same year.
For more than 50 years, Van Burn Collision Repairs has supported the collision repair sector with its long-standing membership in the Automotive Retailers Association, the voice of the automotive service industry in British Columbia. They have been an ICBC accredited repair shop since 1969, a testament to their commitment to consistent quality service.
A proud member of the Better Business Bureau (BBB) since January 1981, Van Burn has been accredited with an A+ rating, maintaining an excellent track record of delivering proven results in accordance with the BBB’s high standards in consumer trust and satisfaction.
Collision Repairs, Current Best Practices
With the help of their loyal clientele (some customers originate from Harry and Erv’s shop 25 years ago), the business has evolved throughout the decades.
Van Burn has kept up with changes in the industry, embracing new technology and implementing the latest welding equipment needed to repair various types of steel and aluminum used in today’s new vehicles.
The shop used eco-friendly waterborne paints before it was regulated in the industry, not only reducing their carbon footprint, but also providing a healthier workplace for their employees.
